We are excited to announce the next offering of the OWN IT: Building Black Wealth education series. OWN IT: Building Black Wealth is an initiative designed to address and work towards eliminating substantial barriers to wealth and homeownership for Black and brown families in the Greater Madison area.
The program offers two key elements: a free education program, and access to $15,000 of down payment funds. To apply for the down payment grant, you must first complete the education series. More information can be found in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
OWN IT is currently offered only to families, alumni, and staff at One City Schools. Register to participate in the free wealth building course.
Virtual Sessions / Schedule
You can watch six sessions virtually at your convenience. You will be required to complete a short quiz to get credit for this self-paced curriculum.
There will be three (3) mandatory live sessions. For each sessions there is are two available times. You only need to attend one of the 90-minute sessions — not both of the AM and PM sessions.
- Session 1: April 22, 9:00–10:30am -OR- April 26, 6:30–8:00pm
- Session 2: May 7, 9:00–10:30am -OR- May 10, 6:30–8:00pm
- Session 3: May 20, 9:00–10:30am -OR- May 24, 6:30–8:00pm
Deadline to register is April 8, 2023 at 5:00pm.
Additional Information
Once you fill out the sign-up form for the Academy, you will request access to the education portal by clicking on the “All Courses” tab and follow the directions. The first session will be available on April 10.
