There are several ways to support the OWN IT: Building Black Wealth program. Consider the options below, or contact our team (firstname.lastname@example.org) to discuss other ideas or opportunities.
Contribute directly to the OWN IT down payment fund. Funds from the community go directly to families and staff at One City Schools to purchase real estate. The first round of applications and allocations will begin in 2022.
Team up to raise money for the fund. We can work with employers who match employee contributions, businesses organizing donation drives, and neighborhood associations collecting funds with annual member dues. Contact us (email@example.com) to discuss opportunities.
Share with Others
Tell your friends, family and neighbors about OWN IT. We need a broad base of support to grow the program. We are especially focused right now on reaching real estate and banking professionals. Share this website and our educational resources for different audiences.
Get monthly email updates about the program.
Contribute your time and skills to our current activities. We are growing quickly and appreciate any time and support you are willing to contribute.
Invite our team to give a presentation about the program. We are looking to connect with people through workplaces, places of worship, neighborhood associations, and groups focused on diversity, equity and inclusion.
Check your neighborhood’s founding documents for racial covenants. Residents can formally repudiate this language, which is the best way to help change them. (We’ll have instructions how to do this soon — check back.)
Learn more about the history of racial housing discrimination, and how the injustices of the past and present are keeping Black and Brown families from building wealth through real estate homeownership. The more you know, the better you can educate others and contribute to lasting change.
Thank you for your interest in supporting the OWN IT program. We look forward to hearing from you. Contact us (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions or great ideas.
